Bo-Kaap public streets walk

A self-guided walk through a living neighbourhood known for its steep cobbled lanes, Cape Malay heritage and colourful homes.

A good reason to go

Walk uphill from Wale Street through the public lanes of Bo-Kaap, a community whose history and present-day life are both part of the visit. Cape Town Tourism suggests exploring its shrines, mosques, markets and food traditions; the nearby museum and guided or audio tours have their own prices.
