07 PROJECT UPDATES

What changed.
And when.

A short editorial history of the guide. Each outing page has its own source and last-checked date.

Five source-checked picks in every listed city

Added eight more outings to Mexico City, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, Cape Town and São Paulo, bringing the earlier sample cities to five listings each. The catalog now has 340 outings in 68 cities; all eight additions have current visitor notes, official source links, map points and separately credited local WebP photos. Four pages also include a date selector for official regular hours, with a clear warning that temporary closures are not live-checked.

Free-day ideas in 30 more cities around the world

Added five places in each of 30 additional cities across North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania. The 150 new listings include official visitor sources, clear access notes, map points and location-specific photographs. The complete photo-credited city index is available in the global catalog.

A real, credited photo for every listing

All 340 outing pages now use locally served, optimized photographs with title, creator, source and license credit. Replaced one previously mismatched Singapore garden photo with a CC0 photograph of Marina Barrage Green Roof.

31 October 2026

A free-day field guide across 30 European cities

Expanded the Europe catalog to 150 free-access picks across 30 cities, with five places per city. The first 20 cities follow Eurostat's 2025 short-stay platform guest-night data; ten additional major city-break destinations extend the coverage. Each new place has a map point, visitor conditions, an official source link and a licensed venue photograph with creator credit.

A map and nearby search for all 50 outings

The catalog now has saved venue coordinates, an interactive OpenStreetMap view, city and category filters, and optional nearby results. Distances are straight-line estimates calculated in your browser; route links open Google Maps in the travel mode you choose.

31 October 2026

A catalog refresh to 50 outings

Rechecked all 35 existing listings against current official visitor information, corrected dated hours and admission conditions, and added 15 new outings across 10 of the covered cities. The catalog now spans 12 cities and six world regions, with each record carrying an official source and a 31 October 2026 review date.

31 October 2026

Launch preparation and four new listings

Added four source-checked places in London, Paris and Berlin, bringing the catalogue to 35 outings. Social sharing now uses a PNG card, and the project includes a deployment runbook and launch checklist.

30 October 2026

More culture, clearer sources

Added eight museums, galleries and public spaces across London, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles and Sydney. Source notes now distinguish free general entry from reservations, paid exhibitions and other costs.

Plans are easier to share

Itineraries can be reordered, shared as a link or printed. The site explains that a shared plan contains public outing details and does not sync a saved plan between devices.

The first FreeDay Finder guide

The project started as a fast static guide to free-entry places, with source links, destination pages, search and a small browser-local trip planner.
