A good reason to go

Make a half-day of the lakeside paths, gardens, play areas and open lawns in Santa Fe. Picnics are allowed, dogs must stay on leash outside the dog garden, and the park's long paved route gives walkers and runners room to spread out.

Entry to the metropolitan public park is free. Parking, restrooms, bike rentals, restaurants and sports courts may cost extra.

The park operator currently lists daily access 05:00–21:00; a separate rules document gives a later closing time, so check the live operator notice before an evening visit. Weekend and holiday afternoons are busiest, especially 12:00–15:00.
